Green Smoothie 7 Day Detox Program Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What is the typical weight loss after the 7 days of the detox?  
A:  Typical weight loss for females is 8 lbs and 10 lbs for males. Some lose less, some lose more....it depends on your body's priorities.  If you have a lot of toxins to release, or healing in your body to be achieved, weight loss takes a back seat to those two priorities.  You'll lose weight - that's a guarantee....but how much is up to your body! :)


Q:  Do I need to take my blender to work?
A:  No, each smoothie is good for 36 hours refrigerated.  You can make your smoothies ahead of time and take them with you, as long as they stay cool.  Sometimes a cooler bag with ice packs will do the job for 6-8 hours!

Q: Can I eat a salad for dinner instead of drinking the savory smoothie?
A:  Eating your veggies is wonderful, but not optimal for this week.  Any solid food you put in your system, even just veggies, will slow the detoxification down as the longer digestion will take precedence.  Even one salad might push your positive amazing results back a day, or more.  So instead of seeing amazing results in 7 days, it might take 8 or 9. 

Q: Will multiple grocery trips be required throughout the 7 Day Detox Program? Depending on the ingredients (and how quickly they go bad) how long will they last?
A: Not only should you only need to go shopping once for the week, but I provide education and information to help you shop more efficiently, so that little to nothing goes bad.

Q: I’m nursing my infant and have been told not to Detox. Can I go through your program?
A: I've had over 60 nursing mamas go through my Detox Program.  Not only is it safe for you AND your baby, but it is BENEFICIAL to both you and your baby!  The wonderful thing about breasts is that they are not a detoxifying organ (that's what your liver and kidneys are for), in fact they are a filtering organ (they create a very pure product!).  I've had two mothers go through the program solely for their babies digestion, not their own.  One 8 week old baby boy had severe reflux which completely disappeared by the end of the seven days, thanks to his MOM going through the program.  That being said, I’d rather you talk to your doctor if you have serious concerns.

Q:  Do I need to have a Vitamix to make these smoothies?
A:  No, not at all.  A Vitamix would certainly make a better smoothie and warm up your evening savory smoothies into soup.  However, any blender will do - you do NOT need to go out and buy anything specific.  The more money you spend, the smoother your smoothie will be, generally.

Q: My teeth need to gnaw on something... either gum or my colleague’s arm. Can I chew gum during the Detox Program?
A: Chewing gum contributes to gas in your system, as well as, “confusing” the digestive process. What does this mean? Your stomach is getting ready for food that isn’t coming. That being said, try to avoid it, but if you’re tempted to chew off your colleague’s arm please chew the gum, and make sure it has sugar and not a sugar substitute.

Q: I have a nut allergy, can I still do this Detox Program?
A: Yes! I offer a few recipes to help once the Detox Program is over that contain nuts, but I can easily substitute something else in their place. If you have any allergies to ANYTHING, please let me know so that I can adapt the meal plan and grocery list for your specific needs.

Q: Can I drink Kombucha Tea while detoxing?
A: Kombucha is an excellent beverage option because it’s loaded with probiotics, which are great for digestion. However, it also contains processed sugar and black tea, (caffeine) which is not ideal during your Detox Program. It’s a great option for the few days before and after the Detox Program.

Q: I have a work meeting that I can’t be drinking a smoothie at, if I eat a light salad, will it totally mess it up?
A: This is not the end of the world, but your results will be different than if you had not. Our best recommendation is to schedule your Detox Program when your schedule is least complicated.

Q: I haven’t gone to the bathroom at all, and we’re on day two. Is that normal? Is this safe?
A: This and the opposite are completely normal side effects of the Detox Program. Reduced input means reduced output. Your body is doing a LOT of work…waste will be eliminated in time.

Q: Is it OK to exercise while cleansing?
A: Absolutely!! Can we please finally put to rest the myth that if you don’t eat a lot, you’ll lack energy? Unless one is undergoing a water fast, which should only be done with a coach, energy levels will skyrocket! You will be amazed to see that the more you allow your digestive tract to rest, the more your energy gets a boost. The energy that is usually spent on digestion is now yours for the taking, so grab it and go for a jog! Remember- you are feeding your cells, not stuffing your belly.

Q: What are detox symptoms? Will I get them?
A: During a Detox Program, the body is essentially tearing down all of the "bad stuff" and rebuilding with new material. To make room for that new material, the "bad stuff" needs to leave; how it makes its exit is your potential crisis. For example: when the body eliminates coffee, symptoms usually include headaches, nervousness, and shakiness. When protein, meats, and fats are eliminated, you may experience skin eruptions, foul body odor, or a coated tongue.

Q: Will I get light-headed if I’m not eating solid food?
A: On the contrary, one's mind becomes clearer and one's ability to solve problems enhances. This is because instead of large amounts of blood and nervous energies being sent to the digestive organs to break down a meal, that extra blood, oxygen, and energy is sent and utilized by the brain.

Q: I can’t eat anything at all? Is it enough calories?
A: It should be perfect for the duration of your Detox Program. Even though it’s a calorically restrictive regimen, you are eliminating the energy required for digestion. This is a real boost to energy for other metabolic processes.

Q: Can I do the Detox Program and eat food too?
A: The benefits of the Detox Program will be lost if you eat solid food in addition to the smoothies. The idea of the Detox Program is to only consume the smoothies so that your digestive system has time to rest. However, if you want to supplement your current diet with Green Smoothies it’s great for digestion and packed with vitamins and minerals.

Q:  Will I have horrible diahrea on the Detox Program?  Will I need to be near a bathroom all week long?
A:  No.  It is extremely rare that you have urgency during the program.  You might have loose stools, but there will be no need to stay close to a bathroom.  If anything, you’ll need to urinate more frequently, which is a great sign and helps you to shed the water weight you’ve been storing.
